The Military claim as to the Gun Club Hill site
Comberated by
being within the Military reserve is based on War Office let-
ter of 11th. February, 1895, Hong-Kong 5/4754/ and the plan ac-
C yellow companying shewing the Military Reserve edged in green within
which the proposed site is well included and the site has for
many years been used as a camping ground by the garrison.
I think it only right to say that the Barracks
are urgently needed and therefore that the matter should be
settled as speedily as possible.
I pursued a similar course regarding the price
to be paid for land between the Bowen and Kennedy Roads, as
reported in my despatch of the 28th.ultimo,No.156, but in that
case the land was not a Military reserve.
I have the honour to be,
sir,
1.1.
Your most obedient
Humble Servant,
& Black
Major-General,
Administering the Government.
As will be seen I
have given
